My concept

I have decided to design a capsule hotel in an airport. The reason why I chose an airport is because it is one of the few places that will appreciate a capsule hotel. People often find themselves waiting long hours in a rough and uncomfortable airport seat just to wait for a connection flight, or maybe due to circumstances they find themselves waiting for too long, therefore a capsule hotel would be appreciated as it offers a very comfortable alternative. The idea is for passengers to get some comfortable sleep for a few hours, or just use the wifi or watch TV at their own comfort away from the airport hustle.

Now that I have established my starting point, I have decided to come up with a concept that i thought best fit the location. I thought about the airport itself and try to come up with few words that can stimulate a concept and I decided to use speed as my concept. The idea of speed is simple, I looked the airplane and straight away I knew the word speed is an appropriate concept. With an average speed of 600 miles per hour, I decided to use the airplane also as an inspiration. The initial idea is to make this capsule hotel feel and look like a first class space on a plane. The concept of speed does not just reflect on the speed of the plane, but it also reflect on the concept of traveling which is always fast paced. Travellers or tourists do not usually stay in one place for too long, they always move from places to places, life is unsteady and fast paced as they move from one place to another, so speed reflects on the idea of travelling, and even at the airport, you will find many people rushing to jump on their plane. The fact is that in an airport, nobody is there to stay, everyone is moving even after a brief or long pause and my concept intend to respond to this natural with full force.
